Use the REST API to manage GitHub Codespaces.

About GitHub Codespaces

You can manage Codespaces using the REST API. These endpoints are available for authenticated users, OAuth Apps, and GitHub Apps. For more information, see "GitHub Codespaces Documentation."

List codespaces in a repository for the authenticated user

Lists the codespaces associated to a specified repository and the authenticated user.

You must authenticate using an access token with the codespace scope to use this endpoint.

GitHub Apps must have read access to the codespaces repository permission to use this endpoint.

Parameters for "List codespaces in a repository for the authenticated user"

Name, Type, Description
`accept` string Setting to `application/vnd.github+json` is recommended.
Path parameters
Name, Type, Description
`owner` string Required The account owner of the repository. The name is not case sensitive.
`repo` string Required The name of the repository. The name is not case sensitive.
Query parameters
Name, Type, Description
`per_page` integer The number of results per page (max 100). Default: `30`
`page` integer Page number of the results to fetch. Default: `1`

Create a codespace in a repository

Creates a codespace owned by the authenticated user in the specified repository.

You must authenticate using an access token with the codespace scope to use this endpoint.

GitHub Apps must have write access to the codespaces repository permission to use this endpoint.

`ref` string Git ref (typically a branch name) for this codespace
`location` string Location for this codespace. Assigned by IP if not provided
`client_ip` string IP for location auto-detection when proxying a request
`machine` string Machine type to use for this codespace
`devcontainer_path` string Path to devcontainer.json config to use for this codespace
`multi_repo_permissions_opt_out` boolean Whether to authorize requested permissions from devcontainer.json
`working_directory` string Working directory for this codespace
`idle_timeout_minutes` integer Time in minutes before codespace stops from inactivity
`display_name` string Display name for this codespace
`retention_period_minutes` integer Duration in minutes after codespace has gone idle in which it will be deleted. Must be integer minutes between 0 and 43200 (30 days).
