I, John Doe, propose that Joe User be recognized as a Fellow of the Python Software Foundation, due to his significant contributions to the Python community as a co-founder of the PyCon Foobar regional conference, a lead organizer for the 2011 and 2012 editions of the Marsian Python community's flagship Python conference, MarsPython and as a long-term contributor to international collaborative efforts amongst the Marsian Python community.

2025 Q4 Nominations

Aritra Pal

I, Anna Wronka, propose that Aritra Pal be recognized as a Fellow of Python Software Foundation. I write this in the capacity of a Director at First Citizens Bank with Aritra Pal reporting directly to me. Being one of the fastest growing banks in the US, First Citizens relies heavily on automation to ensure efficient & coherent operations. Over the years, Aritra has been instrumental in creating critical finance based and complex modelling applications through Python. These applications are critical to the daily and strategic operations of the bank, as many of them are based on regulatory requirements. For these applications, Aritra has ensured not only the correct functionality but also the critical security aspects, through application of encryption-based login details, timeout based features etc. Additionally Aritra has been instrumental in setting up the Python infrastructure from scratch, including AZDO repository and code pipeline, creating and setting up custom libraries and utilities to enable sharing by multiple teams, setting up different environments and creating guardrails, such as package formats, automated test scripts and detailed documentation to ensure all Python implementation and use adhere to the best practices and are thoroughly tested. Post setup, Aritra has contributed towards multiple training sessions with the team and beyond to ensure a wider Python adoption within the bank, with the goal of seamless new user onboarding while ensuring that users are aligned with the established best practices and guardrails.

As an ongoing proponent of Python use in the bank, Aritra plays an active role in timely reviewing the Python utilities and custom functions, to ensure that the custom utilities and functions gets updated with the latest user requirements, updating the python wiki/guide while championing the use of Python and onboarding more users within the Python fold. Aritra also constantly attempts to find key areas of improvement, for e.g. establishing use of polars based dataframes and operations for heavy database related activities to improve processing times for users etc. Aritra has also been instrumental in addressing known security vulnerabilities for certain python libraries in coordination with the IT infrastructure team.

Lastly, in order to enable the acceptance of Python within the team and bank, Aritra has also been instrumental in enabling code translations to Python, with one of the key examples being converting a key R based modelling application to Python with updated features, thus establishing a more diverse and rich Python base ecosystem within the bank.

All the above efforts have led to a much wider adoption of Python within the bank through ease of onboarding and cross-sharing of applications between the different teams. I believe this nomination to be the next key logical step in Aritra's career aspirations which will enable him to connect with like-minded enthusiasts and help usher in those learnings/advancements to our team and the bank as a whole.

I, Cristián Maureira-Fredes, nominate Mia Bajić for her exhaustive contributions to the Python community, specifically focusing on the Czechia community and EuroPython conference. Mia has been the main organizer of the Prague Python meetups since 2021, organized a Python Pizza event in 2024, and was in charge of many tasks during PyCon CZ 2023 including speaker management, media communications, and web development. Mia also joined the EuroPython conference as an organizer in 2023, 2024 and 2025, taking care of PyLadies events,workshops, speaker dinner, communication, design, programme, and many more things. She joined the EuroPython Society board in 2024 and has been there since.

Besides all the organizing she is doing, she has been also a speaker in many conferences including PyCon US, PyCon UK, PyCon FR, PyCon Namibia, PyCon IE, PyCon CZ, EuroPython, and many others.

Mia is a person focused on having a conference that includes many people, paying attention on how to push for underrepresented groups in different communities, and highlighting people that deserve some recognition. She is very good at taking ownership and being accountable for all her responsibilities, which is not a very common trait in the different communities that I have been around.

Rakesh Mittapally

I, Hemachandra Ayodhya, Senior Manager at AARP with over 20 years of experience in the IT industry, proudly nominate Rakesh Mittapally to be recognized as a Fellow of the Python Software Foundation, in honor of his exceptional contributions to Python-driven innovation within AARP and the broader technology community. Ramya Ravi

My name is Chandan Damannagari and I would like to nominate Ramya Ravi, who is the Python tools technical marketing engineer on our team, as a fellow for the Python Software Foundation. She has made significant and sustained contributions to the Python community through her work over the past several years including through driving ecosystem growth and adoption of AI/ML solutions built on Python. She has created over 100 high-quality technical pieces of content targeting Python and AI/ML developers, including tutorials, guides, and community engagement posts that have supported and educated tens of thousands of developers across platforms such as Reddit and various Python-focused developer forums. Her efforts have played a key role in expanding the accessibility and adoption of Python-based AI/ML tools and frameworks.

In addition to her content creation, Ramya has been an active community organizer and evangelist, supporting the PyTorch Foundation by developing educational resources and coordinating Intel’s presence at major Python, Linux Foundation, and other AI community events, including the PyTorch and AI.dev conferences. I, Cristián Maureira-Fredes, nominate Tatiana Delgadillo for all the work she has been doing since 2019 for the Python community, and the growth of the Bolivian community. Tatiana has been organizing different events in her city (La Paz) and country (Bolivia) for approaching new Python topics but also to introduce people to Python. She also has been volunteering in events, acting as chair, host, organizer, etc. I also know Tatiana contributed a few translations to the Python Spanish documentation, helping others in the group as well. She not only organized and helped with events, she designed coding challenges, learning graphical material, study groups, and is one of the admin, moderator, and main contributor to a big discord server for the La Paz Python community with around 500 people, besides helping in the Python en Español one. I truly believe Tatiana fulfils all the expectations we can have from Python enthusiasts that decided to nurture and grow the community.

Akaash Vishal Hazarika

I, Poovanna Kuttetira, propose that Akaash Vishal Hazarika be recognized as a Fellow of the Python Software Foundation. Akaash's nomination is due to his extraordinary efforts and impact on the Python community through both significant engineering contributions and long-lasting community service. As an engineer, Akaash contributed vital code examples to the official g o o g l e ads python client library, a project that has achieved widespread usage with over 11 million downloads and has helped millions of developers successfully implement their applications. His community service is equally impactful; Akaash is the author of "Scalable Infrastructure: Building Reliable Distributed Systems," which uses Python to teach complex principles, and he is currently writing a second book on "Asynchronous Programming in Python." He also maintains a prolific Medium profile with over 30 Python-focused articles that consistently reach thousands of readers and recently launched a new YouTube channel, "The Cloud Stack," dedicated to building GCP-based projects with Python, with a goal of having 10-15 projects by the end of next year. He has also championed Python as a keynote speaker at major international conferences, including the Ohio Linux Fest and two Google Developer Group (GDG) Fests, while also serving as a dedicated mentor at code.org and using Python in all of his academic research projects. Aleksandr Zverianskii

I, Daria Shpak, propose that Aleksandr Zverianskii be recognized as a Fellow of the Python Software Foundation, due to his significant contributions to the Python community as an organizer of both the Python Belgrade and PyData Belgrade meetups, an active member of the Python SPb community in the past, a contributor to the scientific Python ecosystem through his work on SciPy, statsmodels, textvec, a supporting member of the PSF as part of the GitHub migration working group, and as a long-term educator dedicated to teaching Python for many years.

Personally for me Alex became the first python tutor and first CTO. He helped me to grow from a person far-away from programming to Lead Python developer with a huge technical background. I am endlessly grateful for him and truly persuaded that he is one of the most deserving person to become a Fellow of the Python Software Foundation.

Becky Smith

I, George Hickman, would like to nominate Becky Smith be recognised as a Fellow of the PSF, due to her significant contributions to Python, specifically in the event space. Becky is serving as conference director for PyCon UK 2025, has been a trustee of the UK Python Association since 2019, was [co-]director of DjangoCon Europe 2023, and has organised PyLadies and Django Girls events.

I do not think the UK Python community would be where it is today without Becky's continued work to keep events like PyCon UK running.

Maaya Ishida

I, Manabu Terada, a Fellow of the Python Software Foundation, nominate Maaya Ishida for PSF Fellow recognition.

I would like to wholeheartedly support the nomination of Maaya Ishida as a Fellow of the Python Software Foundation. Maaya Ishida is a recipient of the Outstanding PyLady Award, a recognition given to individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the PyLadies community. I have observed Maaya’s continuous and meaningful contributions to the Python community in Japan and across Asia. What makes her contributions remarkable is her dedication to inclusion and outreach. Through PyLadies Tokyo and the PyLadies Caravan initiative, she has gone far beyond urban centers to empower underrepresented Python users and women in tech in regional areas. This work is both logistically and emotionally demanding, and yet Maaya has continued this mission for many years with sincerity and commitment. In addition to her outreach work, Maaya has been a dependable part of the PyCon JP community. She contributes not only as a volunteer but also as a bridge between communities, especially among women in Python. Her efforts in connecting with the wider APAC PyLadies communities have helped build stronger, more diverse networks throughout the region.

I, David Antonini, propose that Mason Eggar be recognized as a Fellow of the Python Software Foundation, due to their significant contributions to the Python community as organizer and President of the PyTexas foundation, and constant advocacy advocacy, support, and work in the Python community in Texas and beyond. Mason has been lead organizer of the PyTexas regional conference for the last several years, but also behind the scenes has organized and grown a thriving PyTexas discord with well attended meetups, and helped (re)establish and support meetups around the state over the past couple of years. Under his tenure, the PyTexas conference has grown, attracting regular attendees from across the country and internationally. Mason is always a beacon of transparency, and leads by example both in assisting other organizations and conferences with his and PyTexas' organzers' experience and nurturing and encouraging prospective conference attendees and speakers. Thus, Mason's work shines beyond PyTexas and extends to the international Python and technical conference community at large.

Sahil Rajendra Pardeshi

I, Norbert Lewandowski, nominate Stan Ulbrych to be a PSF Fellow. This is because of his work in Polish community and specifically translation of documentation. Personnally, when I made quite a mess of the translation he messaged me and explained what I had done wrong but encouraged me to keep translating. Though I know it must have taken a while to fix all of the errors I added. Because of him I got some friends to join and he was always happy to anwer questions. I, Carlton Gibson (PSF Fellow since 2022), propose that William Vincent be recognized as a Fellow of the PSF due to his significant contributions to the Python and Django communities. He is one of the leading tech educators through his three books now in their fifth editions (Django for Beginners/APIs/Professionals), podcast (Django Chat, which I have co-hosted with him since 2019, in full disclosure), newsletter (Django News, weekly since 2019), and LearnDjango.com website stuffed with free tutorials and content.

He is also active in the community itself, serving on the Django Software Foundation board from 2020-2022, where he led the launch of the now-annual Django Survey, regularly speaks at DjangoCon US and DjangoCon Europe conferences, including a keynote this year in Dublin. His community contributions include being the senior organizer of SF Python from 2020 until today. This was a time of enormous turbulence at SF Python and he has been essential in providing a stable and respected presence for the python community. He took on the challenge of joining the newly formed Bay Area Python Association board, and was elected as the Director of the Board ( https://www.bapya.org/about ). Since then he has led the board to put on three successful PyBay conferences - the annual regional conference, and helped restore the integrity and credibility of the organization at large.

Finally he has mentored several people's journeys into joining the python community and becoming leaders within the regional organization including myself, Tiela Black-Law, Viorica Ciobanu, and so many others. He has been a selfless advocate devoting his time and energy to answering questions, reassuring nervous newcomers, and humoring innovative experiments.

I worry this is not specific enough advocacy, so I will end with a story about James.

In 2017 I was a Sr Data Analyst at YouGov programming in R for my day job, and writing fun python programs in my off time. The bus / train service had a 411 api and I wanted to know if I could make the bus when I left work at 5 pm or if I needed to wait in the comfortable office for another half hour so I wrote a command line tool in python. SF Python had a project night, and I went to project night to learn more about python. James had just retired from 40 years of working at Intel and instead of vacationing in Florida or Europe, he was presenting an open source project at project night. I met him there, and he became more interested in my project than his own project. He gave me fantastic advice on how to improve the project, fantastic advice on my next career moves and overall believed in me at a time when I wasn't sure of myself. That is why I am proud to nominate him for PSF Fellowship.

Kalyan Prasad

I, Cheuk Ting Ho, PSF director and fellow would like to express my support for fellow application of Kalyan Prasad. Kalyan has been an active contributor in the India community for years and has been actively organising local conferences. Besides conference organisation, he has also been pushing for diversity and inclusion in his community. Karen Dalton has led the BayPIGgies python community meetup since 2020 and been a member since 2016. She has pioneered BayPIGgies transition through the pandemic and held community events every other month. She led the organization through the turbulent time of the pandemic with calm and poise. Firstly, she transitioned BayPIGgies to online events after BayPIGgies lost its location at LinkedIn headquarters. At this difficult time, she endured online harassment and organizer turnover while maintaining an unshakeable belief in the openness, importance and goodness of the python community. She has since led the transition back to in person events helping to land BayPIGgies a new home at SAP labs. She has mentored countless python newcomers including myself and Darlene Wong and so many others. She was so respected that she was invited to join the inaugural Bay Area Python Association Board. She did such an excellent job, she was resoundingly re-elected in 2023. Her current term runs through 2025 and she is still working tirelessly on behalf of the python community supporting PyBay and mentoring volunteers. She has led volunteer training and onboarding for PyBay in 2023, and 2024 when we had the largest cohort of over 50 volunteers.

Karen is community first. She has led with kindness and empathy for years and years. We are so lucky to have her.

Laís Carvalho

Laís has made significant contributions to the Python community as an organizer, diversity activist, speaker, and open-source advocate. The contributions she made to the Python community are too many to list, but include:

In addition, I've seen firsthand how Laís stepped up for the European Python community when it was dearly needed. When the board struggled, Laís went beyond what you may expect of a volunteer board member. Without her tremendous efforts and personal sacrifices, I do not think EuroPython 2024 would have been the success it was or would even have gone forward at all.

Laís brings people and communities together, including in her activities for PyLadies, black Python devs, and other underrepresented groups. In 2024, Laís was awarded the Q2 2024 PSF Community Service Award, but I feel she also deserves recognition as a Python Software Foundation Fellow.

Simon Charette

I, Ryan Siemens, would like to nominate Simon Charette for consideration as a Python Software Foundation Fellow.

Simon has made significant contributions to the Python community, primarily through his work with the Django project. Over the last decade he has made significant contributions to the Django ORM as well as the community at large. Will is the creator of Rich and Textual.

These two open source projects are the main and now canonical way to display information on the terminal from Python applications. Before Rich, building CLIs in Python to display information was not as attractive and feasible. Now it's possible to build very polished-looking Python CLI programs, mainly thanks to these tools.

This has been a key factor in uncovering a big area where Python can be the main programming language, CLIs. This can greatly help the adoption of Python as a language and make it easier for developers to build great tools with it, expanding the number of use cases and developers that Python can help in general.

Ali has been volunteering his time and energy for years to help people like me learn Python and build careers. He’s been a managing member of the Iran Python community and Tehpug for over five years, organizing regular events, special gatherings, and even extra online sessions just to make sure everyone can join in and learn. And it’s all volunteer work—he doesn’t ask for anything in return. Why Ali Deserves This:

Support and Mentorship: Ali makes time for everyone. He’s held workshops and even casual meetups, online or in person, where he answers our questions and guides us through Python. He’s helped me learn how to use Python to earn money, something I never thought I’d be able to do.

I, Christopher L. Truedeau, would like to nominate Christopher Bailey as a PSF Fellow for his continuing work on education in the Python community. Christopher has hosted over two hundred episodes of The Real Python Podcast (https://realpython.com/podcasts/rpp/) giving a voice to all sorts of Pythonistas. As host, he actively seeks out people from a variety of backgrounds, both culturally and from differing Python use cases.

Christopher has also written over a dozen courses and tutorials covering introductory topics like strings and lists, intermediate topics like decorators, and more advanced niche topics like using the Arduino and writing games with PyGame.

Behind the scenes at Real Python, Christopher is the main editor for all the video courses. His teaching approach goes beyond his own work to mentoring others. Every video course produced at RP in the last six years has gone through his hands, ensuring a high quality of education for Python students of every calibre while producing more educators of Christopher's own calibre through his mentoring.

For several years Jon has been an organizer for PyGotham, based in NYC, US. This program has worked to share knowledge, information, and resources to conferences of all types and is an example of how the Python community has influence beyond its walls.

Velda Kiara

Selected in Q1 of 2025 I, Abigail Afi Gbadago, am writing to nominate Velda Kiara for the position of PSF Fellow. Velda’s unwavering dedication to the Python community, locally and globally, is inspiring.

Velda has led the Open Source Community Africa Nairobi where she organized and led five impactful open-source workshops, significantly increasing the number of contributors from 20 to 75 people. These workshops not only promoted Python but also encouraged diversity in programming languages like Kotlin and PHP.

On a technical level, Velda has made significant contributions to various Python projects, including Novu Python and the Django Debug Toolbar. Her ongoing maintenance of the Django Debug Toolbar demonstrates her commitment to improving the Python ecosystem. Additionally, her technical writing skills are evident in her contributions to the Django News newsletter by writing Django Updates.

Velda’s leadership abilities are equally impressive. She has served as the Black Python Devs Executor from 2023 to 2024, and continues to actively contribute to the community as an advisor. She is currently a Django Events Foundation North America Director, an organization responsible for holding DjangoCon US. She also organizes and volunteers for DjangoCon US as a Code of Conduct chair and the website team.

She was recently awarded the Most Valuable Professional award for Python and Web Technologies by Microsoft in accordance with her contributions on a global and local scale.

Ziyodkhan Atakhozhaev

I, Guido van Rossum, nominate Ziyodkhan from Kyrgyzstan as a PSF Fellow.

His full name is Зиедхон Атахожаев (Google Translate gives " Ziedkhon Atakhozhaev"). He teaches informatics in Kyrgyzstan and had been elected teacher of the year before I heard from him.

I've been communicating with Ziyod[khan] since 2018, when he sought my help to spread the word about Python in his country. I gave him encouragement and soon enough he had visited the Ministry of Education and organized a local PyCon. He even sent me an official PyConKG T-shirt.

A few years later he organized a "Summer Camp 21".

I believe Ziyod has single-handedly kickstarted the use of Python in education in his country.

Charlie Marsh

Selected in Q1 of 2025

I, Sebastián Ramírez, propose that Charlie Marsh be recognized as Fellows of the Python Software Foundation.

Charlie is the creator of Ruff, uv, and founder of Astral.

With his open source work, he has been greatly improving the tooling for the Python ecosystem, increasing development speed/performance and joy for Python developers, making it much simpler to work with Python and to learn how to manage Python projects.

Work on tooling is very important for the adoption of the language, as that drives the ergonomics of using it. But it's very hard to make working on tooling sustainable, aligning the right incentives to make it happen.

Through his company, Astral, he's been able to direct funding to some of the long-time pains of Python, like packaging.

He is also hiring several of the developers tackling low-level complex problems and tools that enable all this work, like the Python-Rust integrations.

I think he, through his company (even if in the end it will have some type of commercial intention), is bringing a lot of improvements to Python ecosystem, and we are all, as a community, benefiting from it.

With his open source tools, he's tackling some of the most important and frequent "complaints" about the language and the ecosystem (as is packaging). This way, he's making Python a much more appealing language for newcomers and a much more enjoyable one for old-timers.

David Vas

I, Miguel Magalhaes, propose that David Vaz and myself be recognized as a Fellows of the Python Software Foundation, due to our significant contributions to the Python community.

PyCon Portugal David and I founded PyCon Portugal in 2022 and we have been the lead organizers since (3 editions in a row). The conference has been growing both in terms of days and content but also participants with a new record each year.The event has been essential in creating a local Python sense of community in Portugal which did not exist at all in the past. It follows an itenerating model where it takes place in a different portuguese city every year, so far it took place in Porto, Coimbra, and Braga this year. All the talks are published for free online for broader visibility. Moreover, we also have a grants program in place which is supported by the PSF, EuroPython Society and the DSF. All editions follow a public code of conduct which has been essential to make everyone feel welcomed.

DjangoCon Europe On top of PyCon Portugal, we have also organized multiple editions of the european Django conference. We have organized 2 virtual editions in 2020 and 2021, and 2 hybrid editions in Porto (Portugal) in 2022 and Vigo (Spain) in 2024. Moreover, we will also be organizing the next edition of the conference in Dublin (Ireland) in 2025. This conference also counts with a grants program, public code of conduct, discounted student tickets, and all the talks are published freely only afterwards.

Based on the wide impact of these 7 conference editions that we have organized so far, and the upcoming 2 editions next year. I believe we have demonstrated a deep Python community involvement worthy of being named as fellows.

Dhanush Kandhan

I, Dhanush Kandhan, hereby nominate myself for Fellow Membership in the Python Software Foundation (PSF) based on my sustained contributions to the Python ecosystem and community. I have made meaningful contributions to prominent open-source Python packages, including TensorFlow, and have been actively involved in Python education and community building initiatives.

As an instructor and mentor, I have successfully trained over 1,000 college students in Python programming and its modern package ecosystem, working in collaboration with the Government of Tamil Nadu, India. This educational initiative has focused on practical applications and integration with contemporary Python packages.

I am an active community volunteer of ChennaiPy (chennaipy.org), the Python community in Chennai, where I contribute to fostering local Python expertise and collaboration. This involvement has allowed me to support both beginners and experienced developers in their Python journey.

Being recognized as a PSF Fellow would further motivate me to expand my contributions to the Python ecosystem and community. I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to serve the Python community in this enhanced capacity.

Felipe de Morais

I, Felipe de Morais, am reaching out to submit my application for consideration as a Python Fellow, as I believe my contributions to the Python community align with the fellowship criteria.

My focus has been on building inclusive spaces and promoting diversity within the Python community. In 2019, I received the PSF’s Q2 Community Award (link here) for these efforts, and I had the chance to share my journey on GitHub’s ReadME Project (link here).

As the founder of Afropython, I’ve created a platform to empower developers of African descent with mentorship and resources. Afropython has inspired similar initiatives like Black Python Devs (link here), amplifying our community’s reach.

In alignment with the fellowship’s focus on conference organizing, I helped establish AfroPython Conf, a conference for the Black community in Brazil. Our events began with an in-person conference in 2019, moved online in 2022 with 18 sessions (2022 Playlist), and returned in person in 2023 in Salvador, Bahia. I was also part of the organization of the first Python Sul conference in southern Brazil, supporting the community with this important regional gathering.

I am inspired by the possibility of furthering my contributions as a Python Fellow and appreciate your consideration of my nomination.

I, Naomi Ceder, nominate Felipe de Morais (AKA AfroPython) as a Fellow of the PSF. Felipe has been a tireless promoter of the global Python community, both in Brazil as founder of AfroPython and organizer of various events, giving his time and resources above and beyond. He has been a frequent and engaged attendee at PyCon US, and has been a supporter of those around him. (I think he was happier than I was when I was awarded the DSA).

Frank Wiles

I, Jon Banafato, nominate Frank Wiles to be recognized as a Fellow of the Python Software Foundation. Frank is a long standing member of the Python and Django communities. He is a regular conference speaker, an open source maintainer, and served as the President of the Django Software Foundation for five years. Frank is an asset to these communities, and his dedication to them is commendable.

Hassan Kibirige

I, Joannah Nanjekye, nominate Hassan Kibirige to be recognised as a Fellow of the Python Software Foundation. He has made impactful contributions and demonstrated exemplary leadership that has significantly advanced the Python community in especially Uganda and the surrounding regions in Africa, as well as globally.

As the author and maintainer of plotnine, a popular package implementing a Grammar of Graphics visualisation system in Python, and scikit-misc, a library providing LOESS smoothing in Python, Hassan has been a flag bearer for Python programming and scientific computing in Uganda and Africa. His efforts have been recognised through awards like the Google Open Source Peer Bonus, which he has received three times.

Beyond his technical achievements, Hassan serves as the chair of PyCon Uganda and is a co-founder of the Python Software Society of Uganda. This non-profit organisation unites all Python communities in Uganda under a broader umbrella and provides them with administrative

support as needed.

Hassan is also an active speaker and workshop facilitator at local, regional and international Python and data science events.

Janine van Niekerk

I, Keith Murray, propose that Janine van Niekerk be recognized as a Fellow of the Python Software Foundation, due to her significant contributions to the Python Community.

The contributions include running or being a key person involved in a majority of the Events on the community run Python Discord, which includes:

- Running our "Code Jam" (https://www.pythondiscord.com/events/code-jams/) events.

- Running "Git and Github bootcamps"--live stream events focuses on teaching users who have never used git to both use it and work with others on a shared project

- Being a leading figure in the management of the PyWeek event on the Python Discord, including scheduling and announcements on various platforms, and managing the chat channels

- Running our "Advent of Code" events,

- Working with staff to develop events, and highlighting pitfalls to prevent overly ambitious events from stalling

- Working with other communities (She is a moderator on the Python Subreddit, and lead the invitation to host the PyQtGraph's discord presence on the Python Discord server, allowing them to engage with their community, without needing to devote time and energy to moderation)

- Contributing code, and working on PRs for the Python Discord infrastructure. Particularly our events bot, Sir Robin.

As well as contributions by formerly being an admin, and currently a moderator and our Events Lead.

These events are designed to share Python with the userbase, and to teach skills to new developers in a fun and accessible way. She also is a frequent helper to anyone with a question, and dedicates a lot of time to listening and guiding users to understanding the solution to the problem in their code, not simply giving them an answer and walking away. Internally she has written many guides and documentation for staff, from moderation to event outlines. She has been acting in this capacity, and advancing the quality of our events and help since 2020, and has had a sustained impact throughout that time.

It is these kinds of events that make the Python Discord more than just a help forum, and which help make many user's first brush with the language a kind and supportive one. Janine's contributions help make the Python Community something which I, and many others, are excited to introduce to others.

Jimena Escobar Bermúdez

I, Cristián Maureira-Fredes, would like to nominate Jimena Escobar Bermúdez to be a PSF Fellow from all the contributions she has been doing for the Python community, especially for her positive impact on the Spanish Python community.

She was the president of the Python Spain association from 2022 until 2024, and she is currently part of the new board. During this period, Jimena was not also an organizer, but also was in charge of giving technical talks and workshops in different events. She always has been pushing for increasing the female membership of the association and community, but also pushing for new students to join. During the hard covid years, she was supporting the local communities, organized events, and kept pushing for the community to remain functional. Among other activities, she was training new volunteers and promoting Python inside and outside our local groups.

It's worth noting that she was one of the Keynotes from the first PyLadiesCon conference.

Before that, Jimena was a PyCon Spain organizer (from 2019 to 2023) establishing a diversity and inclusion (DEI) protocol to enhance diversity in all areas. She was helping with sponsorship as well as engaging with national and international companies to secure the necessary support. She was also a session chair and host during many talks, and managed to achieve the record of 40% of women speakers during one of those conferences.

She started in 2022 PyLadies Spain, and stay as organizer in order to help the many PyLadies chapters in the country, establishing the community, creating DEI protocols, mentoring new people, organizing a few events, etc.

Jon has been a long time community organizer running PyGotham and is a pyvideo maintainer. Jon is also a community organizer's organizer with Conference Chats which has helped dozens of Python conferences including many of the PSF's event-based sponsorees.

I, Charles Bartels Squire, am honored to nominate Julius Boakye for recognition as a Fellow of the Python Software Foundation due to his exceptional contributions to the Python community.

Leah Wasser

I, Hugo van Kemenade, propose Leah Wasser be recognised as a Fellow of the Python Software Foundation, due to her dedication to the Python community, especially around science and education.

Leah set up pyOpenSci in 2018 and has been tackling the thorny problem of too many options, and too many opinions, in Python packaging. By engaging with experts and distilling all those options and opinions into pragmatic, actionable guides, she helps scientists use Python effectively to get science done.

Through pyOpenSci, Leah organises a software peer review process, whereby scientists can have their Python open-source projects peer-reviewed, and also have it fast-tracked into the Journal of Open Source Software, thereby also providing a valuable, citable paper in addition to modern, maintainable software.

Leah has given talks at PyCon US and SciPy; helped organise the Maintainers Summit at PyCon US 2024; held beginner-friendly sprints with the goal of making new contributors feel welcome; in addition to organising and running events such as the pyOpenSci Fall Festival.

Leah is passionate about building a diverse community to empower people to achieve more with Python, open source and open science.

Leandro E. Colombo Viña

I Mariano Reingart, propose that Leandro E. Colombo Viña be recognized as a Fellow of the Python Software Foundation, as he has served the Python community through extraordinary efforts in organizing Python events like the Python Argentina national conference in 2016, being co-chair in 2019, 2020 (virtual) and 2021.at Buenos Aires. He also helps with the coordination for smaller events like several PyDays and PyCamps at many provinces. He has given several talks promoting Python across South America, including PyCon Latam, Chile, Colombia between 2022 and 2024. (references bellow)

Leandro is a co-founder of the Argentina Python Civil Association, acting as its treasurer since the beginning in 2016. He has been managing the financial aspects of the organization, including PyCon Argentina sponsorship and expenses, financial aid grants and umbrella support for other related events and communities. He has been responsible for carrying out the most tedious paperwork with accountants and lawyers, Python Argentina cloud infrastructure procurement and hardware acquisition. He also has been involved in the coordination of Argentina's community portal, internal accounting and job board systems development.

In the past decade, Leandros's active efforts have been fundamental to the consolidation of the Argentina Python community, including the formal administration needed to sustain its growth. He has been showing leadership that made several major events possible, attracting thousands of attendees and collaboration with other groups. The local Python association that he helped to create has sustained membership with hundreds of pythonistas.

Finally, Leandro is widely recognized as a referent in the Argentinian community, providing significant contributions and his high enthusiasm and very positive attitude are exemplary. He has been one of the points of contact with tech companies and other organizations, with special interest in outreach and diversity.

Matti Picus

I, CF Bolz-Tereick, propose that Matti Picus be recognized as a Fellow of the Python Software Foundation, due to his significant contributions to the Python community in his role as a PyPy core contributor, Numpy Core Dev, and Numpy Steering Council member.

Matti has worked tirelessly on various areas of the PyPy project. Perhaps most important has been his dedication to PyPy's C extension compatibility, which made it possible to use PyPy in a much wider range of applications. He has also worked on updating PyPy towards newer CPython versions, improved Windows and Mac OS support, maintained buildbot infrastructure, and has done the work of single-handedly moving the project's repository to Github to open the project for wider community participation.

In summary, he has worked continuously on most central components of PyPy for more than a decade and thus has been, and continues to be, a vital part of the project's continued success.

Miguel Magalhaes

I, Miguel Magalhaes, propose that David Vaz and myself be recognized as a Fellows of the Python Software Foundation, due to our significant contributions to the Python community.

PyCon Portugal David and I founded PyCon Portugal in 2022 and we have been the lead organizers since (3 editions in a row). The conference has been growing both in terms of days and content but also participants with a new record each year.The event has been essential in creating a local Python sense of community in Portugal which did not exist at all in the past. It follows an itenerating model where it takes place in a different portuguese city every year, so far it took place in Porto, Coimbra, and Braga this year. All the talks are published for free online for broader visibility. Moreover, we also have a grants program in place which is supported by the PSF, EuroPython Society and the DSF. All editions follow a public code of conduct which has been essential to make everyone feel welcomed.

DjangoCon Europe On top of PyCon Portugal, we have also organized multiple editions of the european Django conference. We have organized 2 virtual editions in 2020 and 2021, and 2 hybrid editions in Porto (Portugal) in 2022 and Vigo (Spain) in 2024. Moreover, we will also be organizing the next edition of the conference in Dublin (Ireland) in 2025. This conference also counts with a grants program, public code of conduct, discounted student tickets, and all the talks are published freely only afterwards.

Based on the wide impact of these 7 conference editions that we have organized so far, and the upcoming 2 editions next year. I believe we have demonstrated a deep Python community involvement worthy of being named as fellows.

Sage Sharp

We, Jon Banafato and Jeff Triplett, nominate Sage Sharp to be recognized as a Fellow of the Python Software Foundation. Sage's Code of Conduct trainings have improved Python conferences and communities around the world. Their trainings have prepared conference organizers and code of conduct committees for their roles in fostering a safe and welcoming environment, and they have raised the standard for producing community events as a whole.

Sage also runs Outreachy, an initiative that provides paid internships for open source work. Outreachy's programs further the mission of the PSF through funded internships that regularly involve or specifically focus on Python projects.

The Python community is better as a result of Sage's work.

Steve Yonkeu

I, Dejon Fah Joël Xavier, am writing to nominate Steve Yonkeu for the Python Software Foundation Fellowship. Steve has been instrumental in building and nurturing a thriving Python community in Cameroon, most notably through his work with DjangoCameroon (https://djangocameroon.site/).

Under his leadership, this community has become the largest Python-focused group in the country, offering a platform for enthusiasts of all skill levels and backgrounds to connect, learn, and collaborate.DjangoCameroon has successfully organized events across various regions, hosted challenges, and created an inclusive space where members feel supported and empowered to share their knowledge. I, Nde-Ebom Kaji Sob Aime, am writing to nominate Steve Yonkeu for the Python Software Foundation fellow membership.

The reason why I am nominating him is mainly because he created a Django Cameroon club in the University of Bamenda, where I school, and mentored a good number of students to work with Django, brought us closer to the Django community in Cameroon and did more. Furthermore, he is a great Python developer and frequently appears at the top of the list published by Wakatime for Python developers in Cameroon. The time he puts apart for programming, as shown on Wakatime, is outstanding. Also, he is very active in the community and has supported a good number of initiatives and clubs like the Google Developer Group, Google Developer Student Club, Bamenda Community Challenge, Django Girls, Django Cameroon, among many other communities I may not know about. I hope his efforts can earn him membership in your foundation.

I, Steve Yonkeu, am writing to self-nominate for consideration as a PSF Fellow, a recognition I truly value in light of my commitment and contributions to the Python community.

Over the past four years, I have had the privilege to contribute to the Python ecosystem through managing different Python communities, creating videos, talks, open source projects and lastly organizing PyCon Africa. Some highlights of my involvement include:
